India has the distinction of having the world's largest consumption and sale of Gold ornaments. In spite of this unique position, the Indian Consumers have no idea of the purity of gold they buy.
X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Spectrometer, is a tool for fast, non-destructive and fairly accurate Karat (purity) measurement of Precious Metals (Gold, Silver, Platinum) and finished jewellery.
Using the principles of XRF, the Models
Karatmeter* ORA & Karatmeter* Mistral determines the precise percentage by weight (of Karat) in a solid piece of jewellery in just a few minutes. It also accurately determines the element composition of all type of gold, white gold, platinum, silver, palladium, rhodium and related alloys.
The analysis by XRF is non-contact, non-destructive and requires no sample preparation. One has to only position the piece of interest (jewellery) with the aid of a video microscope and start measurement through the computer. No special skills or expertise is required and the machine is easy to operate.

Karatmeter* is most suitable to be kept in Jewellery Showrooms, Electronic Industries (RoHS/WEEE), Casting units, Refinery, Hallmarking centres.
The XRF technology is recognised by ‘BIS' for use in hallmarking centres to check the purity of jewellery at soldered points/joints as well as to determine the presence of banned metals like Cadmium, irridium, Ruthenium.
